97 v8 awd xlt
ok if you look at all my other post you can propably gather that i am trying to save a little at the pump. about a year a go my check engine light came on on my 97 exp xlt v8 awd and i had it checked and they said it was the o2 sensors. i turned the light off but it kept coming back on until 6 mnths ago it went off and i figured it blowed, but its not. the way i know this is that it comes on when u start the truck for the self test and then goes off. should i go on and replace the o2 sensors or could the truck have magicly fixed itself. and would the o2 sensor really emprove my fuel economy. guy at the shop said 3 mpg more i could get. a friend of mine said that u can just wipe them off with emory cloth and they will be brand new. let me know what u all think.

How long since the last full tune up? A great way to get more MPG is change things like filters, plugs, wires, sensors, and clean the MAF and IAC. Also try seafoaming the engine. I'd go ahead and replace the O2's anway to be on the safe side. Not good to run with bad ones.
