Yes, you can use tow straps, hold down straps but if you are working by yourself, it's very hard to keep everything lined up when that thing is swingin in the breeze.
use an engine sling...they are inexpensive and can be used for more than just lifting an engine.
used the stock "L" brackets and chains for the front, 3 ft chains connected to the lift bar and adjusted about a foot up (didn't want to cut them shorter) for the rear.
on the rear, take the upper-most rear nut off the exhaust on both sides and connect the "L" bracket

Using the upper stud on the alternator mount connect the "L" bracket on the long side of the bracket
remove the bolt for the upper airconditioner/power steering bracket, just above the water pump pully again, using the bolt hole in the long side of the bracket.
engine is perfectly balanced and can be controlled by the adjuster at the top of the sling
also, you dont have to worry about stretch and can be done with a 8ft ceiling with slight adjustmets.
