ok i got kind of a problem. During the worst rainstorm i can remember, my wiperblades decided to go out, and throw the rubber peace completly off the passenger blade and halfway off the drivers side. I was on my way home about 4 hours away and could still see alright, so i kept driving, only to descover HUUUUGE scratches all over the passenger side of the windshield when the water dried. I know it can be taken care of with some sort of rubbing sollution, i just cant seem to think of the name or where to get it. Can anyone suggest anything?

Try toothpaste, and get the name brand. Just rub it in the scratches, let it sit for a min., then buff it out.

there real bad like width-wise but not too deep.

Just use normal toothpaste like for my teeth? Ive heard of doing that for cds, but not windsheilds. Imma have to try that tonight

Yea, regular "teeth" paste, it should work on surface scrathes. If it doesn't, don't be afraid to call a glass shop and ask

If there scratches are real deep, you wont be able to completely remove them. Depending if it annoyed you or not, you best bet (im my opinion) would be to get a new windshield. You can get a new one installed for $175 and have it brand new!! Best of all no scratched or blemishes to worry about.

Just me, but I gotta have a crystal clear window:)

The ole toothpaste trick is not going to work in this situation (does it ever?). I'm guessing that the scratches are fairly deep. I would try Scratch X first (you can pick it up at a parts store). If that doesn't work, you're going to have to get more agressive with your polishes.

I recently got a quote of $145 installed for a windshield.

One time i was watching shady tree mechanic and a glass tech had come on and was demonstraiting how to polish a windsheild. He used a formula of different sand papers to buff the windsheild to a brand new shine. Im sorry i dont remember the formula but im sure it can be obtained through a search engine. If you find it please post, Im sure hundreds of people on this board can use it.
