We bought a 2017 explorer sport with the 2nd row passenger side buckle missing, the dealer said it was broke and didn’t work and that they had it on back order with no date to receive.

I call another website that said they had one in stock and they told me there’s 400 people with back orders for this part.

Ford Part #
DB5Z-7860044-EB

I’ve gone through many pages of google searching for someone with this part # and every one of them are on back order.

I’ve been contacting salvage yards as well trying to get the correct buckle.

What I’ve found is these buckles are called the airbag buckle and they have two wires coming out. They also have a distinct receiver because of the shape the buckles are made , it’s not the typical open square in the center. These are extra special buckles :/

Anybody else dealing with this ? I’m going to get a placement from a junk yard I think just to get the use of that seat sooner than waiting for and undetermined date for back order.

Does anyone know who fulfills these back orders ? I’d be curious to see what their threshold is for making these extra special buckles is…

Anyone who can make them to Ford's specs can be a supplier. What's your threshold before you start making them?

If you're waiting for the original supplier - they're probably pretty busy making belts for current-production vehicles. When they have a slow-down in those orders, they may look for other things to build to keep the assembly line working close to capacity.

Have you checked car-part dot com? It's a directory of junkyards that have the part you're looking for (but they only have a LONG list of categories that you have to pick from) organized by distance or price or condition.

Are you certain it's missing and it didn't get shoved down somehow ? Take a look. If it won't accept the male part push the release button and retry. This happened to mine. The center belt got pushed into it which is a non air bag belt. This put it in the latched position.

Welcome to the Forum.
Levittown Ford is a site vendor and Benny offers a discount on shipping to forum members. Give them a call and see if the part they show is in stock. https://parts.levittownfordparts.com/oem-parts/ford-outer-buckle-db5z7860044eb

I found one at a junk yard for $40, it’s been working fine and was from a 2012 limited (mines 2017 sport)

I messaged about 8 different eBay sellers and none of them could get ahold of a buckle only, I briefly considered replacing the belt and buckle with a normal one and just turning off the airbag sensor for them with forscan.

I will probly end up doing that if I have more problems with these airbag belts :/
