Does anyone know if you can buy replacement material for seats? I have a '94 XLT with gray cloth interior; I have a tearing on the seam on the LH front driver's seat in the wing area. I know that I can search junk yards and maybe take a piece of this portion on one of the rear seats and then have the upholstery guy patch the entire area of the wing, but would like to see if there is a vendor who has the seat material.

I'm also looking for replacement inside rearview mirror glass. My mirror is fine - the glass is just distorted and I would like to replace the glass. I replaced the glass in my rearview mirror on my other car - but I'm not sure if there is a big demand for replacement mirror glass on older Explorers.

She's my daily driver with 129k miles and I like to keep it in good shape, beats having another car payment!

Thanks!

The front seats are symmetrical in terms of the fabric since they don't have armrests attached. You could probably go to the junkyard and take the fabric cover off a passenger side seat (which usually has less wear) and put it on your driver's seat. I haven't actually tried this but I see no reason it wouldn't work.

While you're at the yard, rip off a mirror or two, they're cheap and easy. If yours has no visible setscrew to remove, you will need the special tool or a small flathead screwdriver bent in the middle at a 45 degree angle to remove it. There is a metal springythingy in that hole which needs to be released by pushing up parallel to the glass. (Usually resulting in the mirror flying off its mount and whacking you in the face :D) Or if you want to do some wiring, the autolamp/autodimming mirrors are quite nice. Once you go autodimming though, you will want it in all your cars :p:.

Its a bit of a drive but the yards near West Hazleton and New Ringgold in PA are the best. (hint, hint)

You can find a replacement mirror on Ebay. There are tons of them. And pretty much any ford mirror will work. I'm using a crown vic mirror. You can even buy replacement truck/suv mirrors at most auto stores. Just have to use the mounting button it comes with. You may be able to get just the glass from a glass company. Like safelite, or glass America.
