2016 Explorer Limited
I debated as to whether to post this on the technology section, but decided to post my issues here. I have a 2016 Explorer Limited (non-BLIS) and my wife recently noticed that the seat memory is acting squirrelly, the Easy Entry/Exit feature is not moving the seat back and forth, and the front proximity sensor alert sounds different. I broke out my owners manual, and all of the settings are correct. The seat won't hold the memory settings, and when you start the car, mirrors and steering wheel end up in a random position. It doesn't even hold the last setting. The front proximity sensor alert sound appears to be coming from behind the instrument cluster, and the sound is different and not as loud. My wife also said it sounds like the starter makes one extra crank before the engine starts. It was starting on the 2nd crank, and now it is the 3rd crank. When she said this, I got out my multi meter and checked the battery. The voltage is low - 10.63 Volts. It appears I have a bad cell. Has anyone else experienced these symptoms with a bad/low voltage battery?

I will check with a dealer tomorrow about getting a new battery. The good news is that I purchased a Motorcraft Max battery on 7/29/2019, so I am still under the 36 month replacement warranty. I hope the dealer has one in stock, as the Ford Parts website shows them on back order.

If a new battery fixes my problems, I will update the thread.

A bad or low battery can cause all kinds of issues with these vehicles. It is best to start with a known good battery before beginning any troubleshooting.

Just returned from the Ford dealer. Switched out the old Motorcraft battery with a new one. I had 4 days left on the full replacement warranty. That appears to have resolved my issues.

Also, before replacing the battery this morning I had a low battery message show up on the vehicle when I pushed the Start button to try and run Forscan. The display panel said shutting down system to save battery. Battery voltage this morning was 10.5 Volts.
