I got a 03 explorer v6 im trying to bring back to life. Just put the charger on it and theres enough juice now to get lights inside. The display has some weird gibberish where the miles should be. Is this normal after a dead batt? Steps? Thanks

unhook the battery and reconnect, i bet that the lower voltage is responsible, and feeding it proper voltage may cure the problem, ,

Holy crap, that was fast!! LOL, Ill try that after its sits awhile on the charger...thanks

under 1 minute is not always the way you get responses, but hey there are alot of posts here in a day, takes time to read alot of them, , sometimes also there are people who have specialties, members may wait for them to read the posts ,

yea, i read through quite a few posts b4 i posted. Like i said, trying to bring a explorer back to life after sitting in the cold for a few months. Was thinking about joining the elite membership for 20 a year....Worth it? Probably have lots of questions as the miles pile up...lol

yep, Elite is a great way to show that you care, and support the site,,

i liked it so much i am gonna be Elite untl sometime around 2015 or something like that ,

Elite is great

I'm not an expert on digital dash setups, but I am an IT major in college.... Most digital logic controllers run on 5v circuits, even though a car's elecrical system is 12v, lots of the sensors and other electronics in the system operate by a 5v signal too. The computer systems in the car contain voltage regulators that generate the 5v power source for the low current digital stuff. Most comercially used 5V regulators only require a minimum input of 7v, so if you've got a decent amount of light coming from the dome lights and such, you probably have more than enough voltage for the digital stuff to work decent. I guess you'll probably have a definate answer by the end of the day anyway when the charger decides it's done, but boy suspense is a big B word isn't it?

Those digital dash readouts are very sensitive though, even having subs hitting and sucking juice can make them go haywire
