Due to a radio issue a month or so ago the dealer replaced whatever is inside of the dash. They had the vehicle for about 2 days to get the “new radio” per them.
I noticed that after getting it back- I am not 100% sure it wasn’t the case prior, the proximity sensors used to come across with surround sound. For example if I was close to something on the front left, the front left speaker would make the audible beeping... rear right would come from speakers in the rear rights. Now all of the sensors come through what appears to be the front left speaker.

the door chime has also changed, it’s not nearly as “pleasant” as it used to be.

I have also noticed, again may be unrelated, that I have seen some power save Messages comes across the main driver screen on the left.
Again I am not sure how or what is all related but I was wondering if others may have experienced this issue and possible resolution? I have a FORSCAN- but never used it yet. Wasn’t sure if this was just some battery issue that will self correct, a missed setting when reprogramming the new radio or something else? I’d like to avoid going to the dealer if possible since I’m technically out of warranty and with the lock downs I have more time to screw around with the car for something seemingly trivial since it technically is working, but doesn’t sound as good, and I really miss the surround sound sensor alerts- now I have to look down to see where the alert is coming from.

In the current and previous Ford/Lincoln vehicles I've had, I have never noticed that the proximity sensor sounds are either from the left or right. It seems to be a 'surround' sound. any time I've had the Battery Saver message come up, it was on the MFT or Sync 3 screen. It always went away after charging the battery. In my case it popped up because I didn't drive that much. I believe the door chimes utilize the same speakers.

Gotcha, i know for a fact that the cross traffic and proximity sensors would trigger the front of rear speakers for sure. It’s possible that the left and right may have been more in my mind though. The other aspect right now is that alert sounds and the door chime is much more “generic”, almost like its coming from some crappy speaker and not from the surround sound system. It definitely has a different tone, it’s not nearly as pleasant as it was.
I threw the truck on a CTek and having it run a battery recondition right now to see if that helps.
just wasn’t sure if it was maybe related to the new radio install, or APIM or whatever they did and they didn’t reconfigure something ain’t with it to enable the more pleasant tones and position based alerts tied to the prox and cross traffic sensors.

Looks like I got it figured out... definitely a battery/BMS issue. I connected the Explorer to a C-Tek charger/reconditioning unit. I also disconnected the dash cam. I think because the car has been sitting around so much, plus the dash cam acted a bit like a vampiric drain on the battery when in parking mode the BMS kicked in a low power mode. I was getting the shutting down due to power save messages, etc. After reconditioning the battery over the last 48 hours the normal door chimes are back (much more present), and the front and reverse sensors now trigger the front and rear speakers as they did before- and the more pleasant warning tones for those sensors are back.

I just wanted to post and update here for future people that might hear something not quite right question their sanity. I did go and have the battery tested today at Advanced Auto Parts and it was showing 697 crank power, and the factory battery is rated for 650. So they deemed the battery good to go. Just needs a good charge and reconditioning to get past the BMS.

I plan to reconnect the dash cam and do a few more control tests in the coming days and will update accordingly. Hope this helps someone else in the future.

If the dash cam remains powered when the vehicle is shut off, that may be part of the problem.

That is for sure part of this, I think combined with the fact the vehicle has been sitting so much it has be too much for this this battery system.

It’d probably not be too much if that screen wasn’t on.

I tweaked the max draw level on the parking adaptor to not allow drop below 12.5v. I also adjusted the setting today, will get it install tomorrow and further test. Just amazing that the BMS system picked it up and disabled tones and features that are only active when the car is actually running.

Sorry to dig up an old thread.

I’m having a similar issue. Didn’t know exactly what thread to post in. I know @peterk9 might have moved it here. 😀

All of my chimes (starting, door, etc..) are coming from the IPC only. I noticed last week that they sounded different and tinny sounding. I guess (read) that the IPC communicates with the ACM to have the sounds be in surround sound.

I reset the IPC, ACM, and the APIM in FORScan and it made no difference.

Searching around I have seen a lot of mentions of a declining battery. Could this be why? After 2.5 years?

Just curious about what you guys think.

So the issue seems to be when the car is running in low power mode. Did the battery get drained? Running a lot of electricity without starting the engine, etc? It took a week or so if I can recall for it to recover back to normal, but I did nothing but make sure I ran the car like normal and charged the battery.

The battery has not been drained.

Runs in low power mode?

I don’t run electricity without it running.

edit - forgot to say that the HUD also sounds different.

Still having this issue and it is bothering me. Not sure what to do. Had the battery tested and it passed.
