I'm parting out my 1998 Ford Explorer with the 5.0 to use the chassis in another project. The engine thats in it still runs good and has lots of life left, so I've been thinking about giving it a new home. I have a '66 Mustang that I want to drop it into, but I would need to get rid of a few accessories like power steering and the A/C pump (and smog pump if these engines have them).

I've looked online and couldn't find a belt for an Explorer with no A/C and no PS, so I guess these were standard on all Explorers. And both pumps being mounted on the same side of the engine means that I will need some sort of idler pulley there. Is there a bracket I can get off another car that will allow me to delete both pumps? What belt should I use? Or will I have to get a different serpentine setup off another car like an 80s Mustang or Ford truck?

Doorman makes an ac idler pulley to bypass the compressor and allow you to keep the stock belt since the ps pump is on the same loop of the belt you can probably just get a shorter belt. If in your case their is no belt that will fit you can get one that is a bit larger and just change an idler pulley to a larger one to take up slack.
