I just swapped in an engine from a wrecked truck into my Explorer. I know how to set timing on older vehicles with a distributor, but how do you go about doing this on the sohc engine?

ignition timing?

If you're wondering about setting the ignition timing it is entirely controlled by the PCM. The crankshaft position sensor allows the PCM to determine the crankshaft position and the camshaft position sensor allows the PCM to determine if a cylinder is on the compression stroke or the exhaust stroke.

Okay thanks guys. So theres really no reason to set the timing if the sensors take care of things for the computer? I'm used to dealing with more traditional motors lol.
