just keep in mind that buying a cheap sub/amp wont sound much better than just putting 2 6x9's in the doors. if you want to go cheap do that. If you dont have the cash right now for more expensive stuff WAIT!! you will not be happy with a cheap sub and amp for long man. save up for the kicker gear, you wont be disapointed.

hey man how old are you?

almost eighteen and on a tight budget. PS yes my parents gave me my explorer, but I do pay insurance, gas, etc. So don't start bashing me

Alpine MRV-T707 V12 2 Channel Amplifier

can someone explain this?
- 600 x 1 (Bridged 4 Ohm)
- RMS Continuous Power (Watt) (at 12.0V 20-20kHz)
- 4 Ohm Stereo (0.08% THD) 70W x 2
- 2 Ohm Stereo (0.3% THD) 120W x 2
- Bridged 4 Ohm (0.3% THD) 240W x 1
Why does is say Bridged 4 ohm twice but different ratings

Nevermind

hey man I think you should focus on your bass end first.

I am 18 too, and my parents gave me a 96 X- sport so that I can get around. I am putting my bass end in first so that I can focus on the best stuff. Put the mids and stuff in later- it is better to approach this in mudular form. OK here is what I have-
2 of each:
-KX 1200.1 amp
-Kicker S12L7
-1 farad caps

each sub is mounted in a full plexiglass box made from 3/4 inch plexi- 2.5 cubic foot ported boxes with neon in them. best mix between spl/sq

your best bet would be to find a dealer to buy directly from as did I. I have a few friends that deal Kicker stuff so I saved a whole pile of money. Try to buy at cost- if you cant get a job for a while at a car audio shop- it is a fun place to work and you get deals (cost + 10%)

so the L7's I told you about- they retail for 400 US. get them at cost they are around 75, plus 10% of that, so like 90 bucks at most.

My amps retail for 600-900 US each- know someone on the inside track, or work at an audio place and they are yours for 150$

My point is this- try to get the best deals on the best stuff. my audio system was likely cheaper- or the same price as yours. well for my bass end anyway.

Oh damn you still work there??? I'll pay if you can get me some stuff cheap!!!

Audio tech people: one Alpine MRV-T407 V12 2 Channel Amplifier and one Alpine SWR-1240D DVC Type R 12in Subwoofer

The sub: Peak 1000 watts, RMS cont. 300W
The amp: peak 400 (bridged 4 ohm)
RMS Continuous Power (bridged 4 ohm) 150x1

Will this sub hit good or should I get this amp:
Alpine MRV-T707 V12 2 Channel Amplifier
Peak: 600x1 (bridged 4 ohm)
RMS cont. 240x1(www.carstereomall.com) or 340x1(www.alpine.com)
Can't figure out which one is right but if it's 240x1 at bridged 4 ohm I'm pretty sure it will would. This is where I need help! If the amp is actually 340x1 would this over power the amp resulting in a blown sub?

Also it shows the Alpine T707 amp as being 240x1 at two web sites Help needed

Oh I get it's at 14.4V for 340W and 12V for 240W. Now how the heck do I get 240W and make sure I have 12V in my explorer!!!!! If this gets any more complicated I giving up!
Huury answers needed before I stress out and beat on my Explorer!!! Oh crap can't do that either because it''s at the auto body shop gettin' fixed. Oh well

the explorer's electrical system runs between 14-15 volts. so the 14.4 should be pretty accurate.

Stratch eveything! Made up my mind and I'm going to get other stuff first! Maybe I'll put in the HU and some speakers. That reminds me, what do you recommend for speakers? Kenwood's any good?

yeah, Kenwood eXcelon speakers are really good.
