Severe pinging and check engine light on

I had the pinging problem since I bought the truck. Always appear this sound when cruising but never come the check engine light on. This time and perhaps cause I filled with 87 octane fuel i had a particulary noisy trip. The light appears when pushing throttle suddenly and after a while it goes off.I appreciate any information cause this is a very rare truck in my country. Not to talk about scanning tools....

Thank you

Unless they did something drastically different with the foreign models, you don't need a scan tool to get codes. See tests at www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html for instructions on pulling codes with a short piece of wire and a voltmeter.
These engines do have a tendency to ping. Several common causes:
Carbon buildup in the engine
Dirty MAF
Loose lower intake bolts
Try fixing those three things (will only cost you the price of an engine cleaner like seafoam) and see if your pinging goes away.

Thanks for the tips. The truck is just the way it is made in USA cause I bought it from an american diplomatic.

Is cleaning the MAF sensor risky to perform? If I break it I will not find a replacement easily.I guess it is a tiny filament. Thanks again

You do need to be gentle, but I wouldn't consider it overly risky (there is some risk in most everything). Go to the "useful threads" forum here, and click on the link in the "link to singleton site" thread. There's a page in there (with pictures) about engine ping and cleaning the MAF.

I got other engine!! I followed your tips.1.Clean MAF. 2. retorque intake manifold.3.filled 95 octane fuel and disconnected battery to reset PCM and added a fourth by my own. instead of the several ways to remove carbon deposits i saw over th site,i did it old fashioned way: Shifted drive and drove 50 miles at 4000 rpm !! Result: Engine running smoother, much more power at lower RPM and Good bye to check engine light. Thanks again. A last question: How many Liters /Quarts takes the transmission refill? shop manual says ten, Haynes 5.

Assuming we're talking auto transmission, it depends on if you get all of the fluid out or not. Simply dropping the transmission pan will drain ~5 quarts, which leaves about 5 quarts in the torque converter, valve body, and other upper parts of the transmission. If you were somehow in a position where the transmission was completely empty, then it would take the full 10 quarts (or so) to fill. The A4LD doesn't have ready ways built into it to drain the fluid other than what comes out with the pan, so, in practice, the Haynes manual is correct. One can flush the transmission fluid to fully replace the old fluid. This has been discussed before.

If that dosen't work check this site out. Dead Link Removed

I don´t know what type or brand is the ATF fluid(i assume it is Mercon) Can I go to Synth atf over the old one?tHANKS AGAIN
