GJarrett-Are u still going to be able to make it?

Here is a notice about passenger rules if u guys didnt see it.

Important Notice
[ This message was emailed on April 23 to all registered attendees. ]

In light of some recent actions by the Coal Creek Mine and Manufacturing Company (the company that owns Windrock Mountain and the OHV Area), we are going to have to ask you to buy a permit for anyone RIDING with you at Trailfest. I know this is an added expense and it's awfully close to the event, but this new fee was news to us, too.

As of last Friday (April 16) every person on Windrock Mountain (drivers, passengers, children, EVERYONE) must have a daily or yearly permit. Coal Creek assures us this was for insurance reasons only, and not to squeeze as much money out of us as possible. I know it is last minute, but this rule goes for Trailfest participants as well. This means that when you get to the event, you will have to purchase permits for all those riding with you that do not already have them. I don't want it to be a surprise to you when you show up at registation. The permits are $10 a day or $50 a year and are only good for the person whose name is on the permit form.

I understand if some of you are not willing to pay this extra amount, and we are prepared to refund your money if you decide not to attend the event, but I hope you all still plan on joining us at Trailfest. We plan on having a good time and making your trip as enjoyable as possible. Please give this some thought and if you can't see any other option than to repeal your registration, we will happily get you a refund.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or complaints:

Please know that this was not our decision. We are just as much at a loss as you are.

Respectfully - Your Trailfest Coordinators

Check my other thread; I had to cancel :(

I still want very much to run Windrock and hope to meet up with you guys in a couple of months if that will work out for you.

Just tell me when u want to go up and we will plan a run. Its suppost to rain saturday and sunday up at windrock so we will se how that turns out.

I can tell you how to get to my house from the hotel you stayed at last time. Or I can meet you and bring you in. Lokks like it will be Mike, Matt and myself. Anyone else anyone? I have not heard anything from the 4x4grace guys.

Whats your exit number? If u want i will just meet u at your exit. Also what the harriman exit number again, i forgot. Also i am still i need of a spare. I bought one from GJarrett but it probably wont get here in time. Do u think maybe i could borrow your spare 33 david if i blow a tire? I have a strap but nissanboy has it and hasnt gave it back to me so i guess just bring one in case. Im just going to sleep in my truck either at windrock or at your house if u dont mind. I dont have enough money for a motel this time. Hope we get some of those jeeps from grace 4x4 up there because i want to show them who's boss.If u guys want on some of the harder trails u can ride with me and i would appreciate it if u guys could spot me. Cant wait to fully test out my front locker.Rocks, here we come!

Matt

My exit # is 356, Harriman is #347. If you exit 356 take a right at the bottom of the ramp, go about 3/4 of a mile turn left on Beechwood Lane, third driveway on the right a log house. I will be home around 6-6:30 on friday. I have an extra 33 slick BFG a/t mounted you can borrow. The jeep guy that got stuck is not coming, I have had no contact with any other folks and no threads going about coming.

Ok sounds good. I guess it will just be us explorers again! I will be there unless my balljoints go-out on the highway:D. My upperballjoints are gone and also my inner tie rod ends need to be replaced. They should be fine for a few days, i will replace them after i get back from windrock. I did a little testing on the front locker today and it works good but the t-case is limiting its ability. I really need to get that 1354 in! See you guys there, Matt

I rode shotgun with N2FORD today at Windrock. There was a huge gathering of rides. We were not part of the organized event, but watched some really cool trucks do the seemingly impossible or break trying. We watch two rides (a Jeep and a Chevy truck) become front wheel drive after expoding rear drive shafts while climbing Rattle Rock. Seeing trucks come up trail 7 was awsome. After walking down part of the trail to watch, then walking back up (fighting gravity all the way) David found the perfect spot to watch from on top of a huge rock. We both wished that he would have found that spot sooner. Met up with Matt who was a paid participant. He looked like he was having a ball. He also looked pooped. I think he had all he wanted. For all that wanted to come and couldn't, maybe next time. Better yet let's put something together on our own. Thanks to David for letting me hangout in his ride. I think keeping mine off the mountain was the right thing to do, it kept one parking place at Rattle rock open. See y'all ;)

Sorry i didnt meet up with u guys earlier, i was on that trial ride B for like 5 hours. THat tral 16 i believe was a blast. Yeah watching rattlerock is always cool. THat some pretty hardcore stuff. I think some people from windrock were taking some pics. Ill have to check that out. We have to get out there and do it again!:bounce
