Hello fellow Explorer owners,
I have a 1996 XLT. It is a very clean engine
that is cared for with white gloves.
My problem is a unsteady/rough idle.
It does not matter if its cold or hot engine or outside temp.
I have done ALL the usual stuff. New IAC, Seafoam,Plugs Wires
Aircleaner, MAF cleaning, Throttle body clean. Damn near everything
from the aircleaner up to the Intake manifold.
My friend has the exact engine and his idles very smooth.
I have read that the orings can shrink but not sure if I have that
engine. (Thought it was later engine)
Please look at your engine and see if its rock steady or has a little vibration.
My tach is frozen at 1K It does not move at idle.
