shallow pan or deep pan?

hey guys been awhile since i posted on here my tranny is far over due for a service so i figured i would do it on my next days off anyway when i bought a tranny filter kit they asked shallow or deep and i think i got the shallow cuz it was longer the deep one was tiny i will know tommrrow if i got the right one when i tear into anyone know wch it comes with stock???? 2000 xlt 4.0 OHV 4x4 5r55e trans thanks as always

The 4WD version always has a deep pan.

Take a look at my thread on installing leak proof drain plugs. My A4LD pan is the shallow style. Compare it to your pan before you return anything.

They usually ask you if you have 4WD when you buy parts along with a bunch of other questions such as if you have A/C, P/S, engine size, etc. Where did you buy it from? What kind of gasket does it have, and who makes it?

got it from autozone they did ask if it was 4wd wich i replied yes but they still listed the shallow and deep for being options for my vehicle let me go grab it from the truck for the rest of the info

lol well all it says on the box is High performance automatic transmission filter laff another words generic it has what looks to be a rubber gasket though

You don't use any paste with the rubber gaskets. Paste will cause leaks.
