I have a 95 ex and over the years i have noticeed that on the highway takin the 80 mile trip to my parents my ex will drink more gas with the a/c off then with it on.Not much more but enough to notice.Which i dont mind but its just a question that has me wonderring why is that.and no i dont have the windows down when the a/c is off just the vent on to let some air in.I always keep up with the tune up stuff.

Also i want to say thanks to all the helpfull post the fellas on here put up. i just had to swap out my heads on the ex when it blew a radiator hose, ran hot and cracked one head and blew the gasket out on the other. I found a good set from the salvage yard had them checked out and did a search on here and printed out the serveral posts on replacing the heads and over the weekend a few weeks ago replaced them and she is now running great.even after the head swap it still drinks more gas with the a/c off.

All I have to say about this is,"who knows the reason why?" On a recent trip to AZ and back, I got better fuel mileage in the mountains and across Northern AZ thanI do in KS and NE?????? And, the torque convertor wouldn't lock up a big part of the time. Go figure.

Have you checked the thermostat? The AC radiator will heat up the coolant in the radiator, so the engine should be running marginally hotter with the AC on. Just a thought.
