Hi All,

I encountered a wrench light indicator last week and decided to have my Explorer do a transmission fluid replacement. The wrench light still exist after driving for a minute and experienced loss of power, think it's shifting differently to another gear.

I had it scanned and the mechanic informed me that Shift Solenoid-B needs to be replaced. Just wondering what would be the correct part number for that as there are lot of solenoids in the Ford parts website. Thank you.

A fast google search found this information out. I am not positive it is your problem. In fact I hope not.

Does not apply, he doesn't have the transmission discussed in that video.

It is impossible to intelligently opine as to the accuracy of that diagnosis since we do not have any of the fault code information.

Transmission shift solenoids are not individually replaceable, they are all replaced as a complete module. The service technician has to uniquely identify what is installed in your vehicle using the appropriate scan tool in order to select the correct repair part. As your VIN indicates it is an export model (not North American), it is recommended that you take the vehicle to an authorized Ford dealer for diagnosis and repair.

Shift solenoids are a common problem on the 6F line of trannys.

See slide 19 here (shift solenoids are located in valve body): https://d2q1ebiag300ih.cloudfront.n...556/Sonnax_6T70_6F50_Webinar.pdf?v=1485192581

You need IDS to identify the band numbers of the shift solenoids before service, or you need to remove the shift solenoid to ID it and then order a replacement (if not stocked locally). I would suggest replacing the separator plate as well. The parts aren't usually terribly expensive, so it may be worth considering replacing all of the solenoids or even the valve body as a whole depending on mileage.

SSB is a common problem and I've replaced a few on the 6F35 trannys. SSD and TCC are also fairly common problems. Typically with trans solenoids, fine metal particles flowing through the fluid will cause issues that require solenoid replacement. GM has similar issues with various trans solenoids as well (EPC is very common on their 4 speed trannys).
