Tell me about it. I have this same problem, but no one on the board wants to help me.

One person did reply, and said that I would need to bleed the slave cylinder, or just replace it all together. Don't ask me how to do that, b/c no one on this board seems to want to help me with any of my problems.

But I recently talked to a ford guy, one that goes to my church and I can trust, and he said that the slave cylinder is a logical explanation.

To replace the slave you have to remove the transmission (as far as I know). I have never worked on a standard though. Do you have a repair manual? The steps should be in there.

Ive got a 95 4.0 and was having the same problems. Have you checked the clutch resevior? if that babys empty, youve gotta bleed it. I ended up putting in a new slave cylinder after 167,000 miles.

try bleeding the slave if not you need a new one. yes you have to drop the tranny to replace it. might as well do the clutch at the same time. for now you can rev the engine up some and the it should go easier.

It's a slave issue for sure. You (all) need to do some searches here, and read up on the problem. It's not that no-one wants to help, but that it's an involved, but not difficult, repair. It can't be summed up in an easy quick answer, other than, you need to drop the trans and replace the slave.

I went through this last winter, and did it myself in my driveway with no special tools. I didn't know what the hell I was doing, but completed it with the info in past threads.

I will say that I drove the truck with the hard shifting for almost two years first. You kind of learn how to tolerate it. Sort of.
