Yep 1k 3k and polish out... always works a charm! Make sure to clearcoat the lights so it doesnt fade again. (Coming from soneone who restored headlights refularly detailing)

I didn't have any clear but I did throw some wax on it to clear it up then an led bulb will make it like a new vehicle headlight.

Good. Wax it somewhat regularly, and it should last a bit. But if you get the chance you can't beat clear (ever cleae & clear cost both hahahahaha)

i used the sylvania headlight restoration kit on my cars.it comes with a clear coat.

Is the clear coat some sort of epoxy, urethane or lacquer? A step by step how to thread for this would be good the next time somebody wants to do this.
It won't be on an Explorer but I can do it here shortly. Reason I bought the kit!👍👍

My process is usually:

1. sand w/ 1000 grit
2. sand w/ 3000 grit
3. polish out w/ headlight polish on a foam pad (im partial to using a DA here but by hand easily works too)
4. clearcoat (i use the 2k spraymax) theres also ones apecifically for headlights those are good too. i hold the can id guesstimate 6" away from the hesdlight and do two light overlapping passes.

This was the most recent a Lexus RX sorry I finished it at night so the lighting isnt equal but I think you cna tell.

My process is very similar
1. Clean headlight with water or soapy water l
2. Prepare drill pad, and first scor pad 1000p drill speed set to about 8 or 9.
3. Do even storks with the sanding disk back and forth do not stay in one place to long,( could risk scratching.)
4. Rinse with clean water no soap or additives.
5. Move to 1500 pad, do the same as step 3.
6. Now to start polishing with sand paper do it in this order 1000 2000 5000 10000 spending the most time polishing with the 1000 and 2000. (Make sure you keep the surface wet as you polish.)
7. Put wax on a buffing wheel or spare clear and boom. Good as new.
I've done it without the kit, But it is a lot easier with it. This kit comes with everything you need except the drill.
