I was looking through the threads for recent shock recommendations and noticed that several had as a last post one that says "I am closing this thread to save bandwidth and space...you need to do a search."

Although I understand that no one likes to read about the same topics over and over again, many of us may be visitng this topic for the first time in a long while (or ever)......

If the new shock threads will not be permitted to be posted to by folks that are interested, can someone please advise as to the best method for doing a search for CURRENT likes and dislikes?

Basically, my question as well is 'What shocks are recommended out there for 85% onroad 15% offroad use?'

Thanks in advance.

zavetsky,
To do a search go to the top of the page and click on search.
Under "Search By Keyword" type shocks.
Under "Search Forum" click on "Shocks, Suspensions and Lift Kits"
Under "Search By Date" you can choose any date, Yesterday, 5,10,or 30days ago. click on what you want.
Then you can scroll through the posts that have come up.

P.S. I like the OME Nitro Chargers. The Edelbrocks would be my next choise. :) Hope this helps

Did a search

Ok.I did a search and found bits and pieces of info.....but here' my question:

I have boiled it down to getting Ranchp 5000s or Edelbrock IASs..........

At twice the price, is the IAS worth the $$? I have heard a lot of good things about the IAS, but of the Rancho as well.....

For anyone that has the Rancho 5000s..........do you gyuys have part #'s ??

I cant seem to find the right ones on Wrenchead or Carparts...

Thanks in advance!

Since you are doing most of your driving on road, try the Monroe Reflex shocks. About $40 each, half the price of the Edelbrocks. Nice firm ride, not harsh. Body rock when going into and out of driveways is non-existant. Many on the board have given "two thumbs up" recommendation. You may want to try another search for "Monroe Reflex" or "Reflex shocks". Monroe also makes the Rancho shocks.

I put the Rancho RS5000's on my 93 4door about two weeks ago and I love them. You can order them from summit just as cheap as anywhere else and get them in about 4 or 5 days. These shocks get rid of most body roll and the handling is great without being too rough. Plus you get to put a cool Rancho sticker on your window =D.

Hi Zavesky-I've had the 5000s on my '91XLT for nearly five years now. They seem to be the answer to cleaning up the earlier model Explorer's handling woes at a decent price. The only other shock I would look at getting is the RS9000s for their adjustability. You might also want to lookinto getting a steering stabilizer. It'll help with the wheel jerks and pro-long the life of your steering components. Hope this helps.
