shocks for towing?

I'd just be sure that you have your tongue weight set correctly, especially if you're going to have some towing in before getting the larger trailer... I agree with brakeman, I don't see the need for the air shocks, but they can be nice.
Ive already extended the tongue to distribute the weight properly...

I should finish that statement. I extended the tongue and moved the boat around establishing a better weight balance for tongue weight!

My max-airs arrived today from Amazon for $54.99 + free shipping. Replacing the 11 yr.old Hi-Jackers this weekend. Monroe tech support said to keep a minimum 20psi unloaded & adjust height loaded with up to 150psi My schrader valve is mounted under the bumper, but I like the placement in the jack compartment.

Was that for the pair?

Yes, airs, I think, are ordered in pairs.

I have a 98 Explorer 4.0 SOHC with 140k miles and the rear was sag, it had original shocks. I started to pull a pop up camper wich weights should be 3000 lbs loaded, and the rear was sinking. So I decided to throw in a pair of Monroe Coil Over Shock part# 58617 ($89 Amazon). I was really happy whith them when I saw my Explo leveled again! :D After 3 times pulling the pop up camper the rear started to sag again  I believe they are great if you dont pull any trailer and just normal driving. They handle very good and the coil over shocks looks awesome, but not functional for me. I'll be trying the Monroe max-air MA776, as they are the only air shocks I've found for the 98 year Explorer. I'm planing to use air-ride onboard air compressor and PSI gauge and switch I have left from an old airbag set up I had on a 97 Ram.
With these air-ride gadgets I can see the PSI on the shocks from the driver's seat, turn on compressor to raise vehicle height and also has a button to deflate the shocks when needed. I believe you can get these from air-ride without buying the whole airbag set.

Keep a minimum of 20 psi in the shocks.

Jerzey, did you get them installed..??

any feedback?

No I did not. I haven't done anything. Been slacking. A new truck is in order here soon. So I'm not sure what I'm going to put in there.
