Shocks or struts?

I have a 99 Eddie Bauer 4x4 and I need new shocks, some one told me that I have struts on the front. Any of you know, and how can I tell? Thanks for the info

you have one shock at each wheel, 4 shocks in total. no struts.

You may have Automatic Ride Control though, which means you need to buy parts straight from Ford, for a hefty price.
