Good Evening

I just had a question - Is the shop manual on CD worth it? I just purchased one off ebay for a pretty good price and wondered after i bought it if it was good. The discription looked good but I don't really know.

Also, has anybody used one?
Thanks
John

I paid $9.00 for mine. Its very good but I wasn't told it was a bootleg.
Its a wealth of infomation.

thanks!

also, does anybody know how much they are worth new?

Thanks again
John

I really like mine... 10 bucks for an unscrathed for OEM 1997 truck CD... best resource.... much better than a haynes or chiltons.

I set up an old computer in the garage just for it and access to this site and AIM. The software runs fine on old pentiums with little ram and tiny hard drives.

If you buy it from Helm, www.helminc.com the cost of the 1997 Ford Truck Service CD is $1200.

U meant $1.20 or $12.00????????

I meant $1200.00 or $1,200.00 or One Thousand, Two Hundred Dollars.

I didn't realize that mine was a bootleg either, until I got it. Its worth many times the $20 that I paid for it.

Helm doesnt list any CD's for 1993 Explorer's. They do list the paper version of the Powertrain Control /Emission Diagnosis for $327 (included on my 97 CD). You would also want the EVTM for $32 and the Shop manual for $167.50 to have the same info as the CD.

i didn't know that helm didn't make a cd for the 1993 X.

Here is what the seller said was on the CD

It is the same CD Ford technicians at the dealership use to diagnose and repair vehicles.

This CD-Rom includes:
* Complete service manuals including all diagrams.
* Complete electrical and vacuum troubleshooting manuals including all diagrams.
* Complete power train control/emissions diagnosis manuals including diagnostic code descriptions.
* A help section on how to use the manuals and more!

Check out what you can do with this software:
* Access ALL Ford Lincoln & Mercury Vehicles Service Manuals
* Access Wiring Diagrams
* PC/ED Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis Manuals
* Pinpoint Tests! Easy to Follow Instructions for diagnosis & repair!
* Body & Frame Repair

I think it does do all of those.

I was surprised that they didn't list it on their website, but I think that other people on this board have bought CD's for the early Explorers from Ebay.

The fact that Helm doesn't list it might mean they don't offer it to the general public, just to OEM shops (dealers).

The description that you gave is basically the same as what I have on my 97 Ford Truck CD. The wiring diagrams are the most valueable part, IMO. Much better than Haynes or Chilton.
