Started about an hour ago on my way into town. I have been having rough shifting issues for the last 30k/year and a half. It doesn't feel like break grasping, more like loss of power or a wheel loose on the hub, although it didn't shimmy or shutter. It was a smooth drag for just a moment. It happened about 10 times within the last 10 miles I drove. I couldn't stop. I had to take my dad to the hospital. In the waiting room now, worried about both issues...

How many miles are on the vehicle and have you ever serviced the transmission? If you haven't serviced it then I would suggest doing this. Do not flush the transmission because it isn't advised. Also, the 6R80 will not allow a flush to occur due to a temperature bypass value preventing it unless the transmission is thoroughly hot. Most shops will not know this and do a flush where no new fluid gets into the transmission. Do a pan drop, replace the filter and refill. Many here have reported a pan drop, filter change and refill solved shifting issues with the 6R80/6R60 transmissions.

Another thing to do is disconnect the battery for around 30 minutes to clear the learned data from the PCM. Then drive it so the PCM can relearn a new drive history. Many times this can clear shifting issues. Other potential problems is a bad coil(s) on the passenger bank of the engine that can cause interference with the transmission communicating with the PCM. Pull any codes that are showing up and report back here on what you found.

Lastly, I hope your father is doing well.

Could be stability control or traction control malfunction? Any warning lights? Maybe check your wheel tone rings

To be clear - are you saying that during these episodes that it pulls to the right?
