Just put in a Re-man'ed transmission and got an immediate and significant loss of fuel mileage. I went from high 18's/low 19's to 16.5 after the 1st fill-up.

The 2nd fill-up got 17.5. Now working on 3rd tank and hoping it keeps increasing.

Question is, is this normal? Is there some break-in period for transmissins. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

I have heard of a break-in period for a new/reman transmission.
I wouldn't pass judgment on it so quickly--run a few more tanks through it and see what you get.

Could be the computer was reset (battery disconnected) when they installed the tranny and it had to 'relearn' ... that would explain the poor mileage for the first tank ... probably the rest was just break in

second the break in time...

Thanks guys. Ill report back if it gets better.

good luck

No luck. Third tank = 17.5 mpg. Ill try one more before I get angry over it...
