Silver Lake runs this spring (Michigan or anyone close read this!)

Oh Boy, only 2 more weeks before we go. How is it up there in Michigan? Its really cold down here(30's). Hopefully it will warm up to 55-60 by the time we go. But if its cold i think there should be snow on the ground. If theres snow will the park even open?

Today I think it peaked about 40 degrees in GR, I think we are supposed to get a snowstorm this week. If there is just a light dusting of snow, the dunes should be open, but if there is any chance of snow drifts, they shut it down.

Alright. Well i think it should be warming up soon. This week is spring break for us and it has been so darn cold here in IL. I wish I was in Flordia.

WOO HOO!!! Offroading in snow would be kind of cool! I think it'll be warmer by then though....I mean this is spring...spring = warmth....or at least it usually does in Illinois....

It better not get shut down or I will be :fire: :fire: :frustrate :frustrate :shoot: !!!!

I'm all ready to go...theres no stopping me now!!

Great, now you got me all riled up!

Ssikora...it won;t be shut down...if 20 explorers and 30 F150 show up they will open...lol:D

Hey Travis do we need any more non perisables ,pop etc. I was thinking burgers but Im staying at the grandville Fri. and it might be a long trip. I can also get some plastic utensils if needed . Let me know.

What kind of utensils do you think we need? i don;t knwo for sure what everyone is bringing so I don;t know what type of utensils we'll need.

Spreadsheet updated again

Do the "yes" in leading the caravan mean you got confirmation from all those people that they are going to be going??

ESPNfreak and Toad...aren't you both staying at the Best Western also??

Everyone seems to like the idea of a cookout, but not many people have replied saying they will bring food.
Vairking...are you gonna be bringing chili??

I think bringing forks and spoons should be fine. We also need paper plates/bowls.

LETS GET THIS THING ROLLIN...IT'S ONLY A WEEK AND A HALF AWAY!!!!!:bounce:

SSikora:

I got the disposable plates, and I was also planning to bring utensils. We have tons of them. However, I see that toad also is interested in bringing utensils. I suspose I can also bring some ketchup, mustard, etc.

I think that you are the only person bringing burger and dogs, the big ticket items. Maybe we could all just give you a dollar or two to offset the expense. Looks like there will be 20-25 people, so it could ad up.

Eric

I'll just have my buddies pitch in on the burger meat and the dogs. How about enough for 2 dogs each...and around 20 lbs of burger?? Sound like enough?? Someone should get something like some potato salad or something too.

All of the names that say "yes" under the caravan heading are planning on meeting at my school (to the best of my knowledge) and th eones that say no will meet us up at the dunes. the ones that are blank mean I don;t know what they are planning on.

I think 20 lbs of burger is good. thatway if we have 40 people they can still each get like 1-2 burgers depending on the size. I also think 2 dogs each is fine. Are we only having 1 grille? Will that be big enough do you guys think? Also does anyone have a portable shelter think that we could use in case the weather isn;t the best? Also there was one guy who i e-mailed yesterday who said he was going to be drinking quads and bikes so i could ask him if we could store the food and stuff in his truck while we are in the dunes.

Everyone is responsable for bringing their own beverages (no beer in the park).

Also among us we need the propor equipment in case we have a truck problem (extra tranny fluid, PS fluid, oil, any other stuff that would help if we have a breakdown) There is a gas station like 4 miles away in case we need any of those things, but i would think it's a good idea to have at least a bottle of each on hand. What do you guys think? You all know we have to air down the tires before going intot he dunes, right? If everyone has a tire gauge it would be helpful. Also we don't have to worry about air. There is a shop that provides free air right out of the park.

Anyway thats all I can think of now. If anyone else thinks of any other reminders, please post. Also it's still not too late to recruit other members...if you see any Michigan members go ahead and invite them...lets see how many trucks we can get in our caravan..lol

Oh, i know some of you got digital cameras, If we could have a couple on the trip it would really be helpful. unfortunaly i don;t have one, but if we have like 2 i think that would be cool. Also one of the people who will be here at GVSU kind of early and who knows how to get here, if you have a cell phone that has free weekends or something let me know so we can give the others your number in case they get lost. i will be in my room until maybe 8;30 or 8:45, but i don;t have a cell phone so if one of you have one then in case someone gets lost I can talk to them and tell them how to meet up w/ us.

Let me know
Thanks

I will be brining a digital camera along with a cell phone. I don't have free weekends so mine will be last resort. Let me know if noone else responds to this.

I've got a digital camera and a cell phone with free weekends, I just don't know if I get service out that way. Also, any idea on what CB channel we will be using?

Travis, is there an online map of the GVSU campus?

Eric

I was thinking about bringing chili, but after thinking about it more, I have no idea how to keep it hot, and where to keep it. I can do potato salad tho, that just seems easier in my mind then trying to keep a couple of gallons of chili hot, and then keeping it from sloshing around in the back of the X.

I like the idea of the dollar thing, I would willingly pay a dollar or two to help the burger guys out.

I have a digital camera and a cell phone. My cell phone is a Nextel, and last summer service up there wasnt too good, athough a signal could be found on the top of the dunes. My parents were there last weekend, and the Nextels worked excelent, everywhere up there, so that is either because there is no leaves on the trees, or Nextel put up another tower.

I am still looking for my low pressure tire gauge, I know I have one, its just a matter of finding it.

We still need that large shelter/tent!

Somebody pick a number between 1 and 23 (or 40 if everybody has newer machines) thats not 19 or 9 and that will be our CB channel

OK....the whole CB thing.. I've been wanting to get one and know absolutely nothing about them. Do you have to have a crazy 10 foot antenna still??? Could someone point me in the right direction please.

Sorry it's off topic.

Did you guys see Joyride? Where they played this prank on a CB to a truck driver and they driver got pissed and tried to kill them? It was funny!

On another note, im also looking at getting a CB, but we'd be taking my dads truck and I wouldn't want to leave it in there permanently. How would i get it out?
