Brought my Ex in for its first oil change and some minor warranty issues that I have noticed since I purchased it last April. I usually do my own oil changes but this was free so I took advantage of it.

1. Power liftgate strut making popping and grinding noises on extension.

2. Plastic A pillar trim and D pillar trim had white stains that will not come off. This is from the first time I used the washers as it squirted a white substance at first and etched itself into the plastic parts. Paint and glass were unaffected.

3. Paint on the right hand, dash mounted, window defog vent peeling off

4. Drivers side outer door seal warped at bottom (the one that seals between the front and rear door). lot of wind noise from that area and water getting in.

5. Door alignment issues from the factory. Gap between the dash and the drivers door panel wide enough to stick your fingers into. the right side passenger door sticks out over 1/4" from the rear door and not sitting flush. Same issue on the left side.

It was dropped off at 0700 in the morning on Monday and now won't be ready for pick up until tomorrow afternoon! Luckily the weather has been clear and hot and I have a motorcycle to ride so I have been riding to work all week!

Maybe had to order parts that took a couple of days to come in

They ordered parts on Mon. The dealers body shop is 40 miles away in another city so they transported there and spent three days adjusting two doors. WTF! Vehicle left Mon at 12 noon and got back to the dealership at 1 pm on Wed. The strut came in yesterday and the vent comes in today. They said I would get it back today.

Hi Dr Plastic,

Keep me updated on the repair status; I'm here to step in and assist if needed.

This is the constant battle I have in my head when it comes to swapping out vehicles. Sure there may be issues with my current car but who's to say the new (to me) car won't have more annoying issues. I think this is the one reason why I'm so indecisive with car purchasing decisions.

I kind of recognize her the same trend in build quality issues we got with our 2015 Explorer Limted too. Our delivery was April too.

Did you make an appointment to have this work done, or did you just show up and expect them to start working on your car right away? It's not like it is the only job they have to work on. How long did the dealer tell you it would take?

Monday noon to Wednesday noon. That's two days. And that isn't really very long for them to transport your car to another facility, fix it (when there is an opening), and transport it back.

The strut came in yesterday and the vent comes in today. They said I would get it back today.

So the time in the body shop is irrelevant because the other parts weren't there until two days later anyway. Perhaps you would have done better to keep the car and bring it back when the parts have arrived and the shop is ready to work on your vehicle.

They quoted me two days. Although you can make an appt, this dealership does not make it mandatory. I was fourth in line after three appt's. They still have the car and now I won't have it until Fri. Whether or not I have an appt is irrelevant. From Mon to Wed is THREE calender or three business days. You do not count hours as they do not spend 24 hours a day working on the vehicle. They have been holding the car as each day a different part had come in each day. They could have gave me my car back and then I could have brought the car back to have everything installed all at once when all the parts had come in, not keep my car there so they could install one part each day.

Hi again Dr Plastic,

I'm going to connect you with your regional customer service manager, who'll work with you and your dealer to come to a swift resolution. Just shoot over a PM with your full name, phone number, VIN, up-to-date mileage, and the name of your servicing dealership.

Thanks,

Todd

Did they give you a rental? If so what's the big deal, means time you're not putting miles on your own car :)
And sometimes jobs just take awhile. I've spent all day installing a subwoofer in a kids car. Shouldn't be an 8 hour job but it sure took me that long. Just lots of little issues kept setting me back
