ok I just looked outside and started to wonder. right now I have a custom bumper and no skid plate. so it's flat at the bottom of the bumper, and it's flat at my crossmember. essentially I can slowly plow back and forth into a snow drift and it will be forced to move out of the way. if I have a skid plate am I more likely to get stuck? my reasoning is the skid plate will force the snow under it which will cause the vehicle to ride onto the snowdrift, therefore picking up the front end and tires, losing traction. what are others opinions and experiences? I live in ND so this is a concern for wheeling. do I need a quick disconnect sway bar?

We've spent the last two weeks driving in snow up to 18" deep, and with 4x4 got stuck a few times in both the Ranger and my wife's Liberty. It was never due to the depth of soft snow, any undercarriage parts will just cut through it. The problem has been the compacted snow/ice under the fresh snow being slippery, and the tires digging a hole into it.
