Skid plates

There is a sport on here with tons of trail armor, but he has some really nice sliders, they are like mine but the tube outer part goes around the ends of the rails- looks even more factory. Some carefully built sliders can look as good as stock nerf bars and be far more functional.

I like those too. Ok, so I'm almost sold on sliders. :) If I could just build them quietly while the wife is sleeping:D
 






They are just heavy duty steps. You could build your runners, just measure length and build away. Once those are done, then remove the factory steps and weld/bolt on the outriggers. Painted nicely, she may never notice.

:D Or, depending on how much you pull them out from the body... you can always claim that they cut down on door dings from lower vehicles (even though the body of the truck is ( ) ;) :D
 






Just tell the wife they are new step bars for her.
