I've been dealing with this for a few weeks now. I have a 2003 AWD Limited with 81k miles. When I'm at a stop and then turning I notice a slip or hesitation just a second or two after it starts rolling. It doesn't do it when going straight from a stop. Drives just fine after it gets rolling, I don't notice anything other than turning from a stop. It seems to do it mostly when warmed up. Anyone have other ideas what this could be before I take it in for service? I'd like to knock out the things I can handle myself prior to taking to a shop.

So below is a list of things I've done to try to remedy the problem and also because it needed it due to mileage. Nothing has helped.

Change plugs
Clean and oil air filter
Clean throttle body & MAF sensor
Replace fuel filter
Change transfer case fluid
Change rear differential fluid

Perhaps try looking at the viscous coupling in the transfer case. Do a search as this part and its replacement has been discussed previously.

Thanks! I saw some posts mentioning that in my searches. One thing it said was doing tight figure 8's would be very noticeable however I didn't notice anything when I did that. I'm going to try it again after it's been warmed up because I don't remember if it was last time. From what I read the viscous coupling is about $300 and probably beyond my ability to replace. A rebuilt TC is about $1100. What's the best way to test if the TC or viscous coupling is in fact the problem?
