I have the 5 speed auto in a '97 with the 4.0 OHV engine. After I have driven at high speed 70+ on the highway, then get off on a side road the transmission shifts are sloppy. 1st to 2nd it graps hard which isn't normal either, but the 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th upshifts it slightly revs up then shifts. I had the trans serviced in November and the milage is a little over 82,000. The O/D light isn't blinking so whats wrong?

Maybe the fluid is getting too hot? A tranny fluid cooler definitely wouldn't hurt.

When was the last time you checked the fluid level? It may not have been correct after the servicing.
