I searched and haven't found any related topics, so I'm going to ask about an issue that bugs the crap outta me w/ my '98 Mounty...
When I fill 'er up, the pump will always stop at around 16gal. At this time, I can hear the gas filling up into the filler neck, but then run back down into the tank. At this point, I can slowly trickle gas into the tank until the point where I can get as much as about 21gal. or so total into the tank.
What's the deal?
I imagine there's some problem with venting of the tank or something seeing as, once I hit the ~16gal. point, I can squeeze the handle normally and hear the gas fill the filler neck and then trip the pump and repeat this process until the full ~21gal. is reached.
Has anyone else had this problem or have a suggestion for what part of the fuel system is causing this annoying problem?
Thanks a bunch!
