Hey I kind of got a problem (if you can call it that).

On my never ending quest for speed I have a question.

If I sit at 0mph and "gun" it, the acceleration is sort of slow and I don't like it. The weird thing is that if I start off normally until around 15mph where it switches to 2nd, and then I floor it my head gets thrown back and I acceleration very fast.

Well I want this to happen in 1st gear and I don't understand why it only chooses to do this in 2nd gear.

I have the 3 basic "speed" mods.. flowmaster, superchip, and KKM.

Help me, please help me! ;)

Torque converter. Automatics are built to "slip" until a certain speed, where they lock and you get full power to the driveshaft. The reason why 5-spds accelerate faster (usually), is because the left foot controls how much bite the flywheel has with the clutch plate.

A 5-spd will be faster, or you could try Powerbraking (which will shorten the life of your slushbox). Alternatively, you can send your tranny to Level 10 out in the east where they'll modify it for more power handling, and possibly a different stall speed.

Get rid of the 3.27's you got in there now. They're a waste of your time!! REGEAR!!!!

Hear Hear

My 3.27's are the bane of my truck. They're just so expensive to change out. But as soon as I can get some dough set asside, I'm going to 3.73's or 4.10's.

I haven't checked on this before, but you might look into getting a beefed up torque converter. Anyone know about this? I'm curious cuz I could use one too (for rock crawling).

Can I achieve greater acceleration by switching to a smaller tire? I.E. 205/60/15 or around 26/27 inches Would that create an equiv. 4.56 etc.

Yes you could, but keep in mind it will throw your speedometer off. Also, it would look rather unsightly if it were lifted with tires that small.

I'd just be throwing them on at the track just to eeck out everthing I could out of the truck, to see what it will really do. I've seen some other lifted trucks at motorsport events with little donuts on when they do the truck drags.

Sure, you've got really no problem there....heck of alot easier than changing gears!
