Slow Reverse+OD not kicking out when stopping

I have read several threads and am confused as H...
I had the tranny rebuilt and there is about 15K on it.
My problems-
1) It is slow going in to reverse, especially when cold. It has always been like this since the rebuild. I just waited for it to engage before i gave it any gas.
2) Yesterday, when I came to a stop light, the torque converter did not want to kick out. It finally did and the engine almost died. Later on, the overdrive started kicking in and out. When I came to a stop the engine was running about 2K RPM. I shut it off and restarted and the engine was back to normal.

Correct me if I am wrong. The valve body needs to have a kit put in it to correct the slow reverse, and the throttle position sensor is going bad.
Is this correct? Will the Transgo shift kit be enough for the valve body?
Any help will be appreciated.

Well let's see what we can do. Slow reverse engagement. Three things can contribute to this. First a slow fill of the low/reverse servo resulting in a delayed application of the band it actuates. Slow fill can be caused by leaky servo seals, or by a leaky circuit in the valve body that does not contribute ennough ATF fast enough. Additionally it appears that a slightly worn low/reverse band may need a longer servo shaft - there is an aftermarket fix I showed on here.

Next up the OD and TCC problems. These are more than likely electrical and related. There are only two solenoids in the A4LD. One controls the OD shift, the other controls the torque convertor clutch. When both act up start suspecting something afoot with the wiring to them. Remember though the computer is what send them the signals, and if it is getting bad inputs it may be giving bad outputs. Which brings us to:

Possibly bad TPS. A bad TPS is notorious for providing the kind of high idle problem you describe. There are a lot of posts on testing it. IF its bad, there is some possibility it is causing a bad input to the computer which is creating your solenoid problems. Find and fix that problem first.
