I've got an 04 Explorer XLT. It has about 40,000 miles on it. I bought it used 6 months ago, It has an issue, which may or may not be a problem. However it is aggravating. I'm not sure how to explain it but I'll do my best. When stopped with car in gear and you start to roll into the throttle you have to press it down a good ways before the car accelerates. When it starts to go it accelerates hard and you can back out of the gas and cruise. Sorta like if the cable was sticking and you kept pushing harder and harder and then all of a sudden it releases and takes off. The only thing is the pedal is perfectly smooth no catches at all. When at idle with car in park you can press pedal down 1/2 to 3/4" before it starts to rev. I have an extended warranty and if it can be fixed I'd like to get it done.

One other issue I have is when you go to put it back in park it won't go. From drive you shift all the way up just before it hits park it stops. If you take pressure off of the shifter then push again it goes into park no problem. I've tried pressing the brake harder with no luck. It does it every time.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Welcome to this forum! The first issue sounds like a fault in the throttle by wire programming. The dealer could flash the PCM to reset it for you with a new tune. As for the second problem, it might be a linkage adjustment.

Thanks for the help.
