I have the stock JBL system that has the amp in the back of my soon to be 95 EB x. I am taking the system out of my ranger which is a pioneer premier 3500 with kenwwod 600 watt amp. on the amp i have my 2 massive rockford 15" subs (yeah, in a ranger!). Can i tap power for my sub amp off of the amp that comes with the x? if not whats the best way run power from the engine compartment to the back of the x? I am not planning on making the system too extravagent, the stock speakers in the X sound great, so they will stay. I am just going to put in the pioneer deck and add my amp and subs in the rear (gotta have boom). Is there anything i need to watch out for when adding an after market deck? also the back seat radio controls wont work anymore will they? no biggie if they dont. people in the back got no need to f*** with the radio anyway. oh yeah, one last thing, will the wiring harness in my 96 XLT ranger be a direct plug in for the 95 X's harness? or do i need a new one, again no biggie. Thanks all for help! can't wait to get the new X!!

alright, so i have been reading past posts and have seen little tidbits here and there about bypassing the stock amp and also my power antenna wont work with an aftermarket HU?? i would like it to. I am good at electrical and electronics, so someone with info on how to do an install on a 95 EB please post.

Who said your power antenna wont work with an aftermarket HU? Mine does. You just take the PA wire off the new HU and connect it to the wire that controls the antenna. It's that simple. The hardest part is finding that wire, but it's there. I found mine by using a hot wire and touching the copper fittings in the factory plugs until the antenna popped up. Then just tapped into it.

okay thanks! i have pretty much figured out what i need to do by reading. someone clearly explained the amp disconnect and what the bypass harness does, now it dosnt sound so bad after all. it will be fun! i see you have a 98 though, the ant. may be different because other people where saying it just stays up. i dunno, anyone else?
