Smell of Burning Oil under hood and inside..(more)

Hi All,

Recently I have smelled a burning oil smell coming from the engine compartment and often inside via the heating ducts. My brother took it to his work and put it up on the hoist and he along with a few mechanics could only find a leak coming from the oil filter. No other leaks were found from top to bottom and front to back. He changed the filter and oil and the smell is back and seems to be getting worse. I am wondering if the new filter is leaking and the oil burning off.

Any other ideas pertaining to the cause???

Oil could be leaking out and then blowing back and hitting the exhaust. If that's the case there's probably an old gasket stuck to where the filter mounts and needs to be removed.
