I was doing the front brakes on my 96 Sport and the caliper bolt snapped. I know I can buy a new bolt/slide but how do I get the old one out of the caliper?

Thanks!

is it sticking out? if so try some pb blaster and vice grips.

The other option is drilling and tapping it out.

A reman caliper from pepboys is 30-40 bucks, may be worth just to get that...

Broken Caliper Bolt

Can be an ugly process. The only way I know is to drill it out. Might get away with drilling a pilot hole in the broken bolt and then use an "easy out". Heat from a propane torch will help. In the long run it might be just as easy to replace the part.

Well the pin slid right out and I reinstalled everything.

However I have what started as a very strong vibration when turning the wheel (even at a stand still) it has subsided quite a bit but still noticable.

What would cause a vibration when turning regardless of braking or not?

One thing of note: Of the 4 replacement pads only two had the clip that causes the squeal when the pads get low. I assumed each side should have a pad with the clip (despite the way the last pads were installed).

So each side has a clip, whereas before I did the repair only the drivers side had 2 of them and the passenger side had no clips.

Could this cause the vibration?

Whats the proper way to install them?

did you move the wheels when the car wasnt running? You may have air in the power steering. If thats the case it will go away soon.

air in the power steering,, turn the wheel all the way from side to side a few times with the motor running, to bleed it out, , it will go away
