Okay everyone; time to put on your thinking caps.
(Insert picture of inverted funnel on my head here.)
Any ideas about modifying a KKM (or similiar) and attaching it to the windshield pillar? This would allow cooler outside air to enter plus enable some fording
to be accomplished without water drawn into the intake.
Of course that's where the input is needed to seal the ignition and intake systems also. Not for deep fording but
to enable use in areas otherwise not crossable because the water splashing up would short something out.
Deep fording will still be done with the Mog.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Bob,

I actually have a KKM, and that along with raising my differential breather hoses has allowed me to cross a lot of stuff.

A ssuming that you want something even more major than that(don't we all) a snorkel is just one of many mods that I've got on my list of thing to fab, and since I live in Washington it would definitely be useful. I think that I've managed to get a pretty good idea for one.

First, you wouldn't want to use the KKM filter. You would just want to buy a K&N air filter for the stock box. That way you would get the added HP, and the reusability. If you had a KKM at the top of the snorkel you'd have to many problems to deal with(not to mention, you're just asking for someone to walk off with it.)

Second, you'd want to basically get some PVC pipe, you'd have to cut into the fender and cut into the airbox. Seal everything with ABS cement and plumbers silicon, and "Voila" you've got yourself a snorkel. Sure, I made it sound easy, but positioning the PVC pipe correctly would be difficult, and you'd have to bring yourself to cutting into your trucks fender, something irreversable.

As far as the electrical system goes, with the exception of the battery and any add-ons like lights, I think you should be ok, but I'm not positive.... In fact I'm not even sure if the battery is a problem or not....
