Before this weekend, I was debating on doing an manual/electronic transfer case swap to convert my mounty from AWD to 4x4.
This weekend I took it off roading and the AWD performed perfectly. Good bite up the hills, good control on decents, good grip around tight corners etc. The nice thing was, having enough of the power in the rear that if I needed to gun it and kick the side one way or the other real quick, it would do it (kind of the controlled fish tail manuver to turn a little sharper.)So, Off-roading, I really don't need the full 50/50 4x4.

What other benfits are there to the transfer case swap other than fuel mileage? I could go spend the money on a transfer swap, or I could go spend that money on something else, like gears, rock sliders, etc.

awd is 65/35, you can also do brakestands with 2wd? beats me but awd is much safer in rain etc, 4x4 in snow will actually make your truck undsteer in corners and oversteer in rain with 2wd when pushed. Maybe with an electronic t-case you can do light duty rock crawling with locking front rear diffs?lol

If you encounter alot of steep inclines you are going to hurt or fry your tranny
due to overheating it. With 4 low this would not be a problem

I forgot about 4wd Low, you can have a fairly controlled ascends/descends also. 2WDs I wouldnt reccomend much offroading(maybe annoying neighbors lawn?), AWD for very minor "offroading"(in the loosest sense of the word), stock 4WD for just bombing around here and there, but I wouldnt articulate the suspension too much(still set up mainly for onroad)
