Like you wouldn't know, I'm new at the forum. And because I'd very much like to loose that *pesky* new-member-reminder-message I'll introduce myself.

Oh, and of course because you're entitled to know the new gal on the block.

I am a woman from the Netherlands, in the more relaxed going part of our little country, in the south. It's remarkable that we're able to differentiate between ourselves coming from the northern or southern provinces of our country as small as it is. Yet we do. Just like you do on a greater scale in the USofA, or so I heard. :)

I recently purchased my '94 type XLT Explorer, and am in awe of the size. I came to understand that you at the other side of the big pond call it a 'compact MPV' or SUV, and let me tell you: Compact? Well, not to me. I mean wow!

I'm in the process of getting to know my car, I own a Saab cabrio too, and well, there's a distinct difference.

I don't think I'll contribute much to this forum, as I don't have any technical knowledge of cars other than that I have to check the oil and tyre pressure off and on, and turn it in for maintenance at regular intervals.

Well that's about it. Oh. I do have a question, or two, is it possible to fit the car with a remote controlled central locking system? And maybe some sort of ECC or ACC, or what-s-it-called electronical controlled airco system?

Now it's done. Thank you,

Jo-Anne

Welcome and thanks for confirming the myth that size does matter! Here in the UK Explorer owners are often admired for the size thing!
I cant help you with the retro fit answers I dont have experiance in those. But if you need any help with advice and how to guides I am happy to help. We also have encountered just about any and every problem you could imagine so NOTHING is outta reach as far as a fix here.
Sure the guys will all chip in and welcome you also.

Hi JoAnne, welcome to the forum!
Answer to both questions is yes, for the door locks most car alarms will offer that option

For the EATC (electronic automatic temperature control) do a search, it can be done, it's just not a direct swap

i dunno about a compact SUV lol id say more like a mid size SUV. a compact would be more like a Ford Escape or a Nissan X-Terra or something like that ^_^

Yeah true here I guess it is a mid size- The biggest I have seen is a Hummer and the F350 Harley and the occasional Navigator They are fairly rare and barely a daily sighting.

Welcome to Explorer Forum!
Biggest you see around here is a Excursion and they are getting rare. Most is a Navigator or Expedition.

Thanks for the welcome you all, it's heart warming. Also answering my two questions that swift is appreciated. I'll look into the alarming businesses first. :) For the EATC, hmm, I'll have to have a think about that. Thx jad2411.

Jo-Anne

welcome
