Ive got a 94 explorer sport with auto 4x4 hubs. Ive got a bad rotor and need to replace it. Ive been to 2 different auto stores and borrowed 4 different sockets and none of them fit. The closest was a 76mm but a hair too small. Does anybody know what size this is and where can i get one????
The sockets ive tried all say they are for ford explorers to f150s. Ive got a mongrel explorer!!!

Thanks guys!

Great...... will a socket work or does it have to be a spanner socket type? I just replaced the pads for now. figure trhat would buy me some time to hunt down the right tool. It might last....or it might not!!!! That rotor is pretty torn up. We'll see! I'll let you know. Thanks alot for the info!

Thanks guys! I found it at NAPA. Part # SER2432. 6 sided 2 3/8 hub socket. Autozone does NOT carry these......but can order it.... or at least the 2 i went to.
Piece of cake with the right tool!!!

Thanks again!

This Nut is not tight. Fingers or an adjustable pair of pliers should take it right off.

Just remember to take the key out of the key way first. I forgot that once and broke the nut. That was years ago.. I never forgot to do that again.

Take a look at Glacier's write up - http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122696

Obviously some parts may not be of particular interest, but the pictures will give you a better idea of what you're working towards...

When I overhauled my front brakes, I took the key out first and then tapped one of the notches with a piece of wood and a hammer, loosened up immediately, and this was the first time that the nut was off since the vehicle was built...
