After driving a new car for the past few weeks then switching back to the 98 explorer, I noticed how soft the accelerator is on this truck. I did the throttle cable mod years ago. I checked and the mod is still in place. There isn't any slack in the cable. it's just really soft. Is there a spring(s) repair kit that can be use to replace or restore firmness to the accelerator?

I don't remember, is there a separate spring or just the one on the throttle body? I suppose you could lube that spring to see if it helps.

Bring that it's almost 20 years old now, I think the spring could just be a bit worn. I can't seem to find just the throttle body spring online though.

I doubt you would find that spring alone, but try lubing it. At worst it decreases the rust rate.

Throttle is harder to push on the SOHC motor, the OHV motor is easier.... as I've noticed anyway.
