Well, after going to AutoZone for the tool to remove my clutch fan to install the Black Magic electric fan I found out that the two piece Ford unit will not fit my X. I decided to try Pepboys but their's would not fit either. So off I went from tool rental place to tool rental place trying to find the right clutch fan tool only to end up wasting four hours and tons of gas with no luck. Finally, I decided to try the Ford dealer. The parts guy told me to see the service writer, who sent me to see the Tech who works on the cooling systems. He told me the correct tool for the SOHC engines are not the same as the 4.0 OHV and V8's. The correct tool is 32mm for SOHC and 36MM for the other two engines. He took the clutch fan off for me and said I could drive it home without it overheating sense I only live three miles from the dealership. Well, I made it home without any problems and now have half the electric fan installed,thanks to Explorerkids writeup. So if anyone with the SOHC is planning to remove the clutch fan make sure it's for the SOHC or you can use the tool for the BMW.
