I have a 99 SOHC X with a dual in and single out and i have decided i want to go with a flowmaster 50 series dual in dual out, but i was wondering if you could help me out on how much pipe i would need to buy and where the bends would have to be (i assume i could keep the one side). My plan is to buy the muffler off the net and buy the pipe and mark exactly where the bends are needed and then just have a muffler shop do the bends and put it on. How much do you think that would cost?

I would just tell the shop what you want and have them do the whole thing themselves. This is generally a cheap mod ($200-$300). This will save you time and potential headache as they are going to fabricate your pipe and do the welding anyway.

I can tell you first hand that no matter how accurate you think you have marked the tail pipe this will never work. I have done this for several people, and it turns in to nothing but a P.I.T.A. for both yourself and the person dooing the work. If you want to save a few pennies, go ahead and buy the muffler and take it to a muffler shop and have them install it and make you a new set of tailpipes. The end result will be worth the cost when compaired to trying to half ass it and save a buck.

good luck finding someone to do it for 200-300. The lowest I got w/o tips was 430. I wish I could find someone to do it for that little

what are my options for mufflers when i have a dual inlet? I was hoping to get a flowmaster 40 series dual inlet and either a dual outlet or single (what ever i can get) do you know if anyone sells them? or if they even make them?

I am spoiled living in the Dallas area. We have alot of good aftermarket shops for anything you want to do to a truck with great prices to boot. I keep forgetting this is not the case for everyone. However, for an exhaust system, I still think your best bet would be to call up the shops in your area and see what is available and for what price and have the shop do all the work. Your other route would be to order a system such as the Gibson and do it yourself. You could have a shop weld it for you when finished, but a complete job done by a good shop would be your best shot.
