2000 Ranger XLT
I saw an article on a toyota tacoma the other day that used a jeep TJ long arm kit in a conversion to a front SAS. Think this would work on a 2000 ranger, and if so how much lift do you think it would need to get any upwards travel without hitting the frame. eventually i want my truck to go anywhere Rick's X goes, but i'm still in college and broke, so maybe it'll happen sometime before i retire. ;)

Check out Jefe's SAS conversion thread. He used a Rubicon Express kit. Your truck should be pretty much the same as a gen 2 Explorer.
Average lift height on a gen 2 SAS seems to be about 8".

i did a sas on my 99 ranger ext cab 4x4. i used a dana 44 out of a 85 wagonner im runnin 4.56 gears trac lock limited slip in the front and open in the rear for now rear locker is coming asap! i have 10inches of lift with the 36 inch tsl radials. so its an 8inch leaf lift plus the 36s its 10inches but i have MAD flex. http://www.core4x4.com/Reiter_Trails_2004.asp the white ranger. something u might wanna look at doing in the future. if u know the right people u can get it done for a good price. if u have no money and in college now then just stick with what u have and wait till u get out and get some bling!

oh wow, that ranger is sweet!

I'm probably gonna follow Jefe's build up, not to mention I've saved almost all the info and pics he posted about his conversion to a SAS folder on my computer along with some information from other sources. I got a couple people I wheel with willing to help me that own XJ's and TJ's so the labor and fabrication resources are there just not the parts yet. I think I'm gonna give up a little up travel for less lift, but I'll have tons of droop and I'll retain the ability to lift it a little higher later. The build up should start in the spring if everything comes together as I've planned money wise and schooling.

I can't even remember where I saw the article on the tacoma now.
