Hello all~
I have a 1994 XL 4.0L OHV 5 speed manual. Still idling high as I drive it around more and more.
I just put a new coolant temp sensor in as it seemed like that. Still, as I drive it around more the idle gets higher and higher.
Generally if I was to start it up the first time in the morning and not touch it after it's started, the idle will eventually make it's way down to like 700 rpm and stay there. As I drive it around, the idle gradually works its way up to like 900. Not sure what's the cause. It's not overheating either. No check engine light.
New IAC, cleaned MAF. New air intake temp sensor.
I was thinking something with my throttle cable, but that is as smooth as can be, no binds or sticky spots.
I was also debating the throttle position sensor. I tested it at autozone with their sensor testor, and it seems to stick on the bottom end in terms of the resistance values according to the LED lights. As in where it the light starts, I turn it, the lights go up, and then I release it, and the lights go down but stay up a bit from where they started. Could this sensor cause my idle issue? I hate how there are sensors upon sensors under the hood of this thing. SOMETHING SOMEWHERE is causing my idle to act like this. Running out of ideas. It idles great the first few minutes it's running. It's not a real problem but it's getting very annoying. ANY ideas would be great. Thanks all
George
