Hello everyone,
This is a great site, with some very knowledgeable people on it.
First off, I am a new owner of a 2005 Sport Trac XLT with 42,000 miles on it, and most of them are axle miles because an older couple use to tow it behind their RV. I bought this truck because I use to have a 2000 Saturn LS2 V6 with 75,000 miles, and my timing belt broke which cause everything in the engine to break, and/or bend. It would have cost me $4,000 or more to basically replace the engine - that was just not going to happen.
For my first question about this 2005 truck - are there any known major issues with the timing chain, and/or anything else which could rape a persons wallet clean? Also, if there are any little issues with this year of truck - I would like to know that as well.
I just got it yesterday, and I bought a 5 year/60,000 bumper-to-bumper warranty with it. With this warranty they look at the 42,000 miles as really being only 1 mile, so it is like a warranty for a brand new truck, which I thought was a good deal, and something that I needed considering what I just went through with the Saturn I had.
I have 30 days to return the truck if I decide to not go through with the deal, so if anyone has any comments on any issues with this particular year of the Sport Trac - it would be greatly appreciated
.
Have a Merry Christmas everyone...
