It is right at the location where he is describing something moving. I looked at the body mount, but it doesn't have anything visible that looks at all like that washer.
Has that thing got some rubber on the top of it? I was just going through some parts last night and I grabbed a set of moog axle pivot bushings and the top of it got me to thinking because it had some rubber on the top from assembly. I know its not that but what else might be cupped on one side and have traces of rubber on the top.
It s very strange thing. Almost like something under it would be rounded and then on top of it a rubber bushing.
I looked at it hard and I don't see any wear marks on it. Inside the square hole is it clean? I know a bolt in a square hole will leave marks of some kind in the center of each side. The top doesn't appear as though it had a bolt directly against it, just no wear visible.
The coloration of the top vs the bottom really makes think to concave portion was exposed to the elements.
There are 3 97 explorers in the parking lot I may go crawl under one. Anything like this around the spare tire carrier?
As stated before, I believe its the part that the spare tire lowering shaft fits into. You know the two shafts that go together with the lug wrench. The shaft has a square end that fits into a square hole so that the cable pulley can raise and lower the spare tire. If I remember correctly, the square would be about 1/2 inch.
I need a pic of the front of the 97 looking under the bumper to show you.
There are two bushings behind the swaybar with what looks like the part in question and they are gold on top. I don't know 97's well but I guess it would be on the cross member.
You're picture is blurry but it looks like you've circled the mounts for the rack and pinion. I had mine out serveral times and i don't remember anything like that in there, but i have been wrong once before
