I am going to start trying to get rid of the rattles in my 4-door 1992 Explorer this weekend. I installed 1 15" Earthquake Magma in a ported box being pushed with a 600w RMS Alpine amp, so the rattles are horrible. Does anyone have any recommendations or tips for getting rid of rattles? Did you spray ALL the interior panels and the inside of the body panels? Did you use spray stuff or actual material? Thanks. Any help is appreciated.:D

the sheets of deadening material work really well to stop outside noise. spraying the insides of the plastic panels with rubberized undercoating or bed liner will really help kill the rattles.

sound deadning is a great idea. worth all the money to me. here are some of the pics. of what i did. i havent sprayed my door panels with bed liner. hey leen where can i pick this stuff up at how much would i need to do all 4 doors and cargo door? leen is right the sound deading does deaden the outside well it also allows you to not turn your radio up traveling at highway speeds.

I used nearly 100 square feet of Dynamamt Xtreme to sound proof the floor, sides and doors of my X. I laso put a bunch on the back of the panels, and it helps a lot. It was kinda pricey, but worth it.

I highly reccomend doing the undercoating to the panels. All of them. It is called "Rubberized Undercoating" and you can buy it at any auto parts store for about 3-4 bucks a can. You will need about 3 cans.

like kyle said, the rubberized undercoating is about $3-$4. bedliner is about $6. some people like the bedliner better because it dries a little faster. i just took off the panels, sprayed them, and left them off for three days. i drove around without the panels because i didnt want to chance having that smell in my explorer.

completely dead doors

If you wanna get REAL serious about deadening your doors, check out what these Aussie's did:

Go to the Tech Section, then to Sound Deadening your doors by Lance.
This gives tons of information on the completely dead doors.
Enjoy, and plan ahead.

That's exactly what I did to my doors. I first covered the inside (actually the outside, as it's the outer skin). Then I covered the metal that faces the door panel. Also, my Boston Accoustics are mounted on a piece of 3/4" MDF. My doors really close with a thud now. I have some pics and will try to get them up here soon.
